A World of Ice and Fire / You Did a Really Great Job!
September 08, 2019, 09:00:08 PM
As we near the twilight of Warband, I've been playing a lot of mods waiting for Bannerlord. I just want to praise you. You did a fantastic job! IMO the best mod out there.

Recreating the GoT world was an astounding effort in itself. But aside from that this is great Warband. The factions seem distinct. I dont agree with all the troop trees but they feel like factions and have distinct looks. The battles are what I love most. The AI works well. Been playing another mod and it really seems to have two flavors. Enemy sits doing nothing or charges. Doesnt feel like a real battle just a big melee. The maps are also better than most. Other mods are too hilly or have a river blocking movement or way too small. Sometimes havent even made the lines before the enemy is on top of us (because all they do is charge). Your battles are epic and fun and feel like two armies meeting on the field.  You also didnt try and reinvent the wheel  by changing all the weapons and armor mechanics so some villager with a stick isnt taking down knights.

I just wanted to thank you for your effort and the hours of enjoyment youve given me the past few years

Other Games / Help Identifying a Game
June 02, 2019, 10:46:56 PM
I'm trying to remember a game I swore I've played. It was similar to CK2. I took place in the 1300s. Joan of Arc was hero you could recruit. I remember having to fight the English while also trying to unite the French factions. I remember it being important that you held Rouen since thats where you needed to be coronated.

Help & Support / Re: Commoner Trust

How do I increase commoner trust? I've been doing village quests whenever I come across them and I've never raided a village (did take out one caravan but it was a faction I was at war with), but I'm still "untrusted".

Off topic but I also somehow have negative right to rule and I'm not sure how that happened.

I did a run through and I wanted to be kind of a Bronn type. But I was also playing as Dornish and the Martells and the other lords were always going on about honor so I ended up being really upstanding. I think I raided like one village early on when I was a mercenary for someone. I had so much honor to spare I never ransomed prisoners. All the cities loved me. I did missions for villages. All my stats made me a paragon of virtue.  But I never got positive commoner. I just used the recruiter so it really didnt matter.

v4.0 / Missing Bridge in Voltanis?
March 08, 2019, 07:36:51 AM
I cant think of the town's name But its northern most castle of Voltanis. There is no way to cross the rivers to get to it. So to get to from say Selhorys you have to all the way around the rivers and then double back.  I dont know if that was intentional.

v4.0 / Re: [4.1] Lys Issues
March 08, 2019, 07:01:33 AM
The above fix i did in edit mode fix helps some. I was playing another mod and was having a similar issue of troops just staring at the ladder and getting mowed down. I went into edit and moved the barriers on either side out just a bit and the troops started going back up normally. I did super cheating for Lys and it was still nearly impossible. The enemy seems to respawn in the exact same spot so you can never actually thin them out and get a foothold on the wall. If you get troops up there theyll just get surrounded and killed. I took out the door and lead my troops thru the gate. And it was still barely doable.

Thanks for the reply, I will try it tomorrow and give it my best shot.  By backing up the file, do you mean just copy and paste it with a different name?  I think I understand all the other steps.

yes, you can just let windows name it copy....

it sounds more complicated than it is. just lots of little steps

What you need to do is find the post about "items" and "cheatmenu".

Download the beta file they link to. Back up the old one and replace it.

Fire up the and cntrl and ~

Enter cheatmenu

Go to camp. Options, , more options and the CHEATMENU!  Its easy after the first time, The mod has custom menu so this on gets buried.

From the cheatmenu. Pick Items and then just start shopping. You can only buy one at time but can just keep repeating.

One you have finished. cntrl~ and enter nocheatmenu. Then save and exit.

Rename the menufile because youll use it again and replace with the backup. This is a BETA and causes minor issues, Nothing that will ruin your game just displayed text is off. This isnt complicated to do, just a lot of little steps

most of the armor though is heavy so you'll need a ton of strength and stamina to wear it. Its also like 60 resist so its unbalanced IMO for player and companions to have them.

v4.0 / Vassal Son Cant Recruit?
February 15, 2019, 11:03:13 PM
I made my son a lord.

Its been over a week of game time and he is still just (1) in his party. Has recruited no one. The garrison of his fief hasnt increased either.

I am wondering if the issue is that our culture is Crownlands since I choose Valyrian at the start. I can only recruit from inns. The AI is maybe not finding any crownlands to recruit since there is no Danerys or Aegon holdings and no actual Crownlands faction?

I am on a fresh game and I got that quest from Snow. It happened for me really quick after the previous mission. I did another game a couple of weeks ago and never got it because Rob died at the Red Wedding before I could turn in the Wildling mission and it never advanced.

So, first I must complete the main questline?

there is an order. you get wildling mission from Robb, then there is a mission or two from Mormont and then Jon Snow will send a raven about about the mutiny. At least its seems that you need to do A before B is given to you.

Your system is about on parr with mine, im just on a 1080.

FWIW - I 'm set at 600 and have few issues, set at 700 it was 60/40 whether it went stop motion but about 600 seemed the sweet spot

Seems to be related to who you are fighting IMO. Some units are just more taxing it seems, more polys, less optimized textures etc.

FWIW, in this mod, turning off the graphical menus seemed to improve performance across the board but could just me projecting

I'm trying to find it but cant. There is a thread somewhere about setting up NVIDIA for Warband. You are suppose to turn off some settings. Some of the AA and I believe the threaded optimization. I got VC during the Winter Sale so I just did all that a couple of months ago. Only game where turning Vertical Synch on or off made the least bit of difference,

A World of Ice and Fire / Re: Blackfyre
February 13, 2019, 11:48:52 PM
I literally just did that, Now I am emperor of New Valyria!

I went to Pentos to raise my relations before starting the campaign. Just trying to do tasks for the lords. Idiot ruler offered me a fief out of the blue. Took that.

I then started a war between them and Myr. Pentos ended up having the upperhand but was still a bit wrecked.  Renounced my fief, joined Blackfrye and then blitzkrieged thru all the tiny garrisons and gave myself Myr. Finally took Pentos and gave it to myself. Then Blackfyre backstabbed me and fired me from marshall. Wouldnt give me a fief because I had high controversy so I rebelled and set up my own kindgom. Wiped him out. then moved to next target.  Tyrosh surrendered without having to siege. Lys was a pain but mostly do to the mod design. Now Im gathering cannon fodder for the great war with Voltanis

v4.0 / Re: Ambush (City/Town)
February 13, 2019, 05:45:02 PM
I am lord of Pentos and face this A LOT entering the town.  The ambushers are spread all over the map and you have to go find them. One guy is always up in tower in an inaccessible section of the map. I just use a cheat because its so tedious and time consuming. Rarely is the ambush in any area an actual ambush. You will have a couple of people rush you then you have scour the map looking for a peasant.

v4.0 / Re: Celraenos (Norvos) Siege Bug
February 13, 2019, 05:33:46 PM
I just tested this. Sure enough about 90% of soldiers just stopped in one spot outside the castle. They seem to face away from the castle when idle.

Another issue was that ones that I could get to go into the castle ignored the big mass of soldiers just inside, walked across  the grounds to the stairs for the wall and attacked the bishops. They got aggro outside and weren't letting go. Only once the Bishops were gone did they go for the others.

While that was going on the  Norvosi troops near the gate just stood ground so we could just go to the wall and slaughter those with ease.  When the wall was cleared the courtyard troops were also easy. Since they were fiercely standing ground, my men were only ever fighting about 5 at a time. If I had more than one guy fighting them at a time they would be easy pickings. With patience, pretty sure my troops would have taken them

Entry Points 70 and 71 are up in the sky. I dont know if that is related to this issue or not.
