Quests within AWoIaF Modification.

Main Questline

AWoIaF Mod contains a main Quest line which will be initialized on starting a new game. You can choose to follow this quest or not, though its advised to do so to gain some good experience and a few extra Stags. The main questline currently consists of;

The Pointy End

You are tasked to meet with Lord Robb Stark and warn him about the situation that happened back in King's Landing. Accepting this task gets you 2 Stark soldiers and -10 relation points with The Westerlands.

  • The reward for this successfully completing this task is:
    1. +2 renown
    1. +5 relation points with Lord Robb Stark

  • Winter is Coming

    You are tasked to find a farm north of Winterfell (Farmstead) and eliminate the wildling threat there. Slaying the raiding party leader gets you 10 honor, 10 renown and 200 silver stags.

  • The reward for this successfully completing this task is:
    1. 600 silver stags
    1. 2 renown
    1. +6 relation points with Lord Robb Stark

  • Winter is Coming - Part 2

    You are tasked deliver a message to the Night's Watch Lord Commander Jeor Mormont.

  • The reward for this successfully completing this task is:
    1. 4 renown
    1. +1 relation point with Robb Stark

  • Bridges and Bones

    You are tasked assist the Night's Watch host and suppress the wildling invaders at The Bridge of Skulls.

  • The reward for this successfully completing this task is:
    1. 5 renown
    1. +1 relation point with Lord Commander Jeor Mormont

  • Bolster the Black

    You are tasked to return to Robb Stark and argue the Lord Commander's case for more troops.

    You are tasked to return to the Lord Commander and give him Robb Stark's answer.

  • The reward for this successfully completing this task is:
    1. 4 renown
    1. +1 relation point with Lord Commander Jeor Mormont
  • The Lands of Always Winter

    You must gather a small force and possibly a Valyrian weapon and scout the lands of always winter.


    Mutiny at Caster’s Keep

    Three weeks after the Lands of always winter quest, Jon Snow sends a letter asking you to meet. You arrive and find out that Jeor Mormont was betrayed and killed in Craster's Keep. We agree to go there.

  • After massacring them and returning to Jon, we get:
    1. +1 relation point with Jon Snow
    1. +1 renown
    1. Valyrian Steel

  • Lord Varys' questline

    Lord Varys can be found in the Great keep at King Landing. Here you can initialize his questline which includes 5 tasks;

    1. The Messenger

    You are tasked to meet up with one of Lord Varys' agents in Sunspear (Dorne). After receiving the coded message from the agent, you are to return to Lord Varys.

  • The reward for this successfully completing this task is:
    1. 300 silver stags
    1. +5 relation points with Lord Varys

  • 2. The Spy Hunter

    You are tasked follow the Spy who is about to leave King's Landing to his contact. Capturing the spy is a must. Capturing the spy with his contact results in better rewards. The spy's contact's party consists of 5-11 squires.

  • The reward for this successfully completing this task is:
    1. 1500 silver stags (captured the spy or his contact alone)
    1. 2000 silver stags, a book: A history of the Great Sieges of Westeros (captured both the spy and his contact)
    1. +5 relation points with Lord Varys

  • 3. Knightslayer

    You are tasked to assemble your own force and destroy the Hedge Knight camp located in the Vicinity of Duskendale (The Westerlands). The Hedge Knight party consists of 18-41 Hedge Knights and 31-56 Sellswords.

  • The reward for this successfully completing this task is:
    1. 1500 silver stags
    1. Targaryen Plate Armour; 52 body armour, 41 leg armour. How the armour looks in-game
    1. +5 relation points with Lord Varys

  • 4.Bravos Seeker

    You are tasked to train a dozen (12) Skilled Bravos and bring them to Lord Varys. This can be done by recruiting lower tier Bravos troops from villages and training them up and/or by recruiting higher tier Bravos that can sometimes be found in the Bravoos tavern.

  • The reward for this successfully completing this task is:
    1. 3300 silver stags
    1. +5 relation points with Lord Varys

  • 5. The Message

    You are tasked to meet Lord Varys near the Sept of Baelor to discuss silent matters. From there you will speak with him and the quest will continue accordingly depending on how you reply to the matter.


    Beric Dondarion's questline

    To initialize Beric Dondarion's quest you will need to find him at Hollow Hill. His quests include;

    A Lannister always pays his debts

    You are tasked to defeat the Lannister raiding party that has been pillaging villages in the vicinity of Hollow Hill. The Lannister raiding party consists of:

    14-20 Lannister foot soldiers, 10-12 Lannister Arbalesters, 14-20 Lannister scouts.

  • The reward for this successfully completing this task is:
    1. Book of Westeros the old.

  • The Purge

    The dagger Silence is obtained through killing all of the Lannister troops during the opening sequence to the game and thus successfully completing the quest The Purge.

  • The reward for this successfully completing this quest is:
    1. The dagger Silence.
    1. 1,000 experience.
    1. 50 renown.
  • We Take What Is Ours

    The quest "We Take What Is Ours" is activated by talking to Rory in the tavern of the town The Arbor. He request your aid getting rid of the Ironborn captain called Dagmer Cleftjaw who is causing problems in the area. If you accept the quest, Dagmer Cleftjaw appears in the tavern of the town of The Arbor. If you talk to Damger Cleftjaw you have an option to intimidate him (if your strength is high enough) or fight him and his warband outside the gates of The Arbor.

  • The reward for this successfully completing this quest is:
    1. 1,500 silver stags for completing the quest.
    1. 400 experience completing the quest.
    1. Variable amount of experience and silver stags after defeating Dagmer Cleftjaw and his warband if you are unable to intimidate Damger Cleftjaw or choose not to.
  • Quests through rumours

    You Win or You Die

    There is a random chance of activating and completing this quest when attacking herds of boars and huge boar will spawn. If you kill the huge boar you will be informed that this is the boar that killed King Robert Baratheon. After you complete the quest, you can go back to King's Lands and there is an option to turn in the boar for which results in the player receiving stags and a boost in reputation. The huge boar that killed Robert Baratheon can roam as far north as Dukensdale to as far south as Storms End to as far west as Hard's own. Some players have specifically said they have encountered the huge boar around the Stormslanding area.

  • The reward for this successfully completing this quest is:
    1. Silver stags.
    1. Reputation boost.
  • Joining the Free Folk

    Join the King beyond the wall

    You will need to complete this quest if you wish to join the Free Folk.


    Battle for Brightroar

    North-East of Qohor there is an occult tower. If the player chooses to explore the Occult Tower there will be a battle between the player and the occultists led by Magus Crowley who wields the Valyrian steel sword Brightroar. If the player defeats all of the occultist, the player will gain brightroar, receive 200 renown, and receive a positive relations boost with R'hllor religion.

    A Blood Sacrifice for the Black Goat of Qohor

    The player can receive a quest via Draquen Ormatis in the tavern in Qohor if the player agrees to raze the Temple of the Bearded Priests and defeat the subsequent appearing army of the Bearded Priests led by Calypso Eranelar. The army led by Calypso Eranelar consists of over 800 troops. Calypso Eranelar wields the Valyrian steel glaive Retribution

    The consequences for razing the Temple of the Bearded Priests and defeating the army led by Calypso Eranelar are:

    • The player can obtain the Valyrian steel glaive Retribution by executing Calypso Eranelar after defeating his army and taking him prisoner.
    • Variable amount of silver stags upon razing of the temple.
    • Negative impact on commoner's trust.
    • A unique Black Goat High Acolyte helmet when turning in the quest to Draquen Ormatis after its completion.


    Giant Lair beyond The Wall

    Beyond the wall you can find a giant lair and if entered you fight a group of giants.

    1. If you manage to defeat all of the giants and are NOT Free Folk in starting people, you receive a trophy that can be exchanged for 3,000 silver stags
    1. If you manage to defeat all of the giants and ARE of Free Folk in starting people, the two giants named Wun-Wun and Dongo join you as companions

  • Wolf Den

    In the forests near Deepwood Motte there is a wolf den. Upon entering the wolf den you fight a group of dire wolves.

    1. After killing all the wolves you will obtain a Dire Wolf as a companion IF Northman in starting people.
    1. After killing all the wolves you will obtain a trophy which can be exchanged for silver stages if NOT Northman in starting people.

  • Cave beyond The Wall

    Beyond the wall there is Cave in which several Wildlings live. Here you can find obsidian arrows and an obsidian dagger, useful to help defeat wights if you lack Valrian weapons.


    Ice River Cannibal Camp

    Beyond the wall along the shore north of Bear Island there is an Ice River cannibal camp. If the player chooses to explore the Ice River camp there will be a battle between the player and the cannibals led by Gragg Bloodrager who wields the unique bastard sword Blood Bringer. If the player defeats all of the cannibals, the player will gain loot including Blood Bringer and human flesh. There is also a chest in the cannibal camp that the player can loot if they explore the camp post-battle.

    Old Valyria

    At the crossroads between Saltpans, and Lord Harroway's Town at The Crossroads Inn (screenshot) you will find Ser Janis Lyren. He will give you a quest to find, and rebuild his ruined castle (this is how you start your own kingdom). To complete the quest, you will need the following:

    1. 10,000 (10k) Silver Stags
    1. 50 troops (can be peasants)
    1. One unit of tools
  • You will find his Ruined Castle east of Volantis (screenshot). You do NOT need a boat to complete this quest, as you can take a ferry to Essos.

    Note: Ser Janis Lyren is NOT a companion, and will die, but he is not needed once you got the quest from him.


    Bringing a Warlord to Justice

    You gain access to Bringing a Warlord of Justice quest sometime after reaching over 1,000 renown through a random map event. You are tasked with defeat the Warlord Brog Matter and his army. This quest is considered end game content and is meant to be challenging so be prepared.

    Location

  • The reward for this successfully completing this quest is:
    1. If you choose to execute Brog you gain his unique armor and Valyrian steel sword Dark Vengeance
    1. If you choose to spare Brog, he will join you as a companion and you later gain access to the Freeing a Brother quest

  • Freeing a Brother

    You gain access to Freeing a Brother quest after a set amount of time IF you complete Bringing a Warlord to Justice quest AND chose to spare Brog. In this quest, Brog requests that the player helps him free his brother from a Slaver's camp. This quest is considered to be end game content and the player should expect a big, epic battle when attacking the Slaver's camp.

    Location

  • The reward for this successfully completing this quest is:
    1. Reed Matter will join you as a companion. Reed is equipped with unique armor and the Valyrian steel sword Reapers Vengeance
  • War for Dawn

    The War for Dawn quest occurs upon the onset of the White Walker invasion. The objective of the quest is to defeat all the White Walker armies. The player is receives word of the White Walker invasion from a warrior of R'hllor and his warband with a request to aid in opposing the coming struggle. If the player accepts the quest and is R'hllor in religion, the messenger and his warband joins the player.


  • The reward for this successfully completing this quest is:
    1. A flaming, Valyrian steel great sword named R’hllor’s Glory. The player needs to speak to Benerro at the Temple of Light near Volantis to receive the reward of R'hllor's Glory after all the White Walker armies are defeated.
  • Bandit King

    The player receives the Bandit King quest on day 170 via a message sent from Stannis Baratheon. The objective of the quest is to defeat the Bandit King in his army who has been pillaging the Riverlands. The Bandit King leads an army of over 1,400 troops consisting mostly from the bandit troop tree. You can find the Bandit King and his army roaming around the Riverlands.

    The player receives equipment of the Bandit King upon defeating and executing the Bandit King which consists of:

    • Goldenheart Bow.
    • Round Shield
    • Steel Helm.
    • Mail Brigandine.
    • Scale Mittens.
    • Mail Chausses.
    • Large bag of barbed arrows.

    The receives the following upon turning the quest into Stannis Baratheon:

    • 5,000 silver stags.
    • Wierwood Bow.
    • 125 renown.
    • +25 relations with Stannis Baratheon.
    • Moderate increase in commoner’s trust.


    A Ballad of Sea and Serpents

    The player receives an event based quest at day 230 from Triarch Malaquo Maegyr of Volantis to defeat the pirate Aurane Waters who killed his nephew and has been disrupting trade for Volantis.

    The player receives the following upon defeating the pirates and executing Aurane Waters:

    • The Valyrian steel scimitar named Striker.

    The receives the following upon turning the quest into Triarch Malaquo Maegyr:

    • 20,000 silver stags.
    • +15 positive relationship boost with Triarch Malaquo Maegyr
    • 40 renown.
    • 5,000 experience.


    Battle of the Bastards

    The Battle of the Bastards occurs between day 360 to 400. The Battle of the Bastards involves a battle between Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton. The player can choose to journey to the site of the battle occurring near Winterfell and patriciate in the battle either supporting Jon Snow or Ramsay Bolton.

    Parameters for the Battle of the Bastards:

    • Robb Stark must have died in the Red Wedding.
    • Winterfell must be owned by the North.
    • Sansa Stark must be not married to the player.
    • Jon Snow must be alive.
    • Jon Snow must be commander of the Nights Watch.
    • Ramsay Bolton must be alive.

    If the player participates in the battle and wins while supporting Jon Snow the following occurs:

    • Jon Snow is made King of the North.
    • Jon Snow is no longer Lord Commander of the Nights Watch.
    • House Bolton is dissolved and its fiefs distributed to Jon Snow and other Northern lords.
    • Ramsay Bolton dies.
    • The Vale and the North are at peace.

    If the player participates in the battle and wins while supporting Jon Snow the player receives the following:

    • +75 renown.
    • 2,000 experience
    • Relations increase with Jon Snow.
    • Increase in reputation.
    • Increase commoner's trust.
    • A letter 3-4 weeks after the battle to meet Jon Snow.
    • If the player meets-up with Jon Snow after receiving the letter, the player receives a masterwork Dragonbone bow.

    If the player participates in the battle and wins while supporting Ramsay Bolton the following occurs:

    • Ramsay Bolton remains head of House Bolton.
    • Ramsay Bolton becomes King of the North.
    • Jon Snow dies.
    • The Vale declares war on the North.

    If the player participates in the battle and wins while supporting Ramsay Bolton AND defeats Jon Snow in a duel at the end of the battle the player receives the following:

    • The Valyrian steel sword Longclaw which was wielded by Jon Snow.
    • 3,000 experience.
    • 150 renown.
    • +30 relation with Ramsay Bolton.
    • Significant decrease in reputation.
    • Decrease in commoners trust.

    If the player participates in the battle and wins while supporting Ramsay Bolton AND loses to Jon Snow in a duel at the end of the battle the player the following occurs:

    • The player permanently dies.

    If the player participates in the battle and wins while supporting Ramsay Bolton AND takes a page out of Ramsay Bolton's playbook and declines to fight Jon Snow in a duel at the end of the battle the player receives the following occurs:

    • A bottle of pussy tears.
    • 1,5000 experience.
    • 30 renown.
    • +40 relation with Ramsay Bolton.
    • Significant decrease in reputation.
    • Decrease in commoners trust.


    Red Wedding

    The Red Wedding occurs at Winterfell on day 150. The player can participate in the Red Wedding as either a house Stark loyalist or house Frey.

    If the player chooses not to participate in the Red Wedding then the following happens:

    • Robb Stark of House Stark dies.
    • Roose Bolton becomes ruler of the North
    • Walder Fey becomes ruler of the Riverlands.
    • Brynden Tully joins the Vale.
    • Fiefs owned by House Stark including Winterfell are distributed amongst House Bolton and other lords that were loyal to House Frey in the Red Wedding.

    If the player chooses participate in the Red Wedding as Stark loyalist and saves Robb Stark then the following happens:

    • Robb Stark lives.
    • +5 relations with Robb Stark.
    • +6 relations with North.
    • +6 relations with Riverlands.
    • -10 relations with Westerlands.
    • Lord Walder and Roose Bolton join the Westerlands with all their associated fiefs going with them.

    If the player chooses participate in the Red Wedding as Frey loyalist and Robb Stark dies then the following happens:

    • Robb Stark of House Stark dies.
    • +5 relations with Roose Bolton.
    • +5 relations with Walder Frey.
    • +6 relations with Westerlands.
    • -10 relations with North.
    • Roose Bolton becomes ruler of the North
    • Walder Fey becomes ruler of the Riverlands.
    • Brynden Tully joins the Vale.
    • Fiefs owned by House Stark including Winterfell are distributed amongst House Bolton and other lords that were loyal to House Frey in the Red Wedding.
