Old valyria : Ser janis died

The quest "Old valyria" is given by the knight Ser janis lyren, but he died some time ago/some saves ago, with no one noticing it, meaning he's dead permanently.
The question is then, will it have an impact on the questline further on or rather, is he needed further down the questline
