I have been trying to get wun wun and dongo for days now but dont know how i started new game as free folk?
Hey there, you need to start the game as free folk (I know this for a fact) and im fairly sure the invasion has to have happened (Night King invasion) before you're able to recruit them!
They're located in a cave above of free folk camp across the other side of the water.
Nope. No invasion needed.
Lol, don't feel bad. They were hard to find for me as well before I figured out the cave.

I have started again with free folk I have been searching past the wall but cannot find the giants cave anyone know where the exact location is?
I've already found it on my two new saves so can't put a screenshot... If you go to the village "Free folk camp" its directly above that over the river, hidden within the 5 trees. The river is in a U shape almost, and its at the top of the U.
