How do you gain faction relationship?

I'm a vassal of the north and I haven't been getting any faction relation increases after sieges or normal field battles. For example I just now helped Roose Bolton defeat some thieves and I got no faction relationship.

To get rep with a faction, rescue their lords from prisons, as far as rep with lords, you have to speak with them after the battles. Talk with everyone.
