Title: Minister cannot train my troops.
Post by: thenextking on September 27, 2017, 06:01:01 AM
I asked my minister (in previous versions I had to ask my master of law) to train my troops in of of my fiefs, but no troop is being trained, actually.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, there was an option to hire extra trainers, so you could increase the number of soldiers you can train in your fief. This option disapeared.

Any other player have noticed this problem?

I've noticed that mine can only train low-tier troops, peasants and levies. I tried to use him to train the Skilled Braavosi but alas, it did not work

Same with me, I was trying to complete the varys questline by training some bravosi...

Hey there, you picked a companion to be your minister right? If you did they won't train any troop that is a higher level than them (trainer skill also plays a part if it's a companion)

I see...

I don't known if you agree with me guys, but this kind of situation seems a little strange to me, because it doens't matter if your companion has 10 of trainer skill, he will always be unable to train any troop that is a higher level than him. The good soldiers are level 30 or higher!  :(

Is there any other way to improve the training of soldiers in my game?

I don't known if Produno will introduce any other changes at this point, but it would be nice if you could hire your own master at arms. You could find him at your court and you could ask him to train your troops for you. Well, I think every great lord has one!

By the way Produno, You really did a great job in this mod. The game is completely amazing!

Short term fix - export the companion you have as your minister in - CAMP - OPTIONS - MORE - IMPORT/EXPORT and amend his XP to make him level 2247 adding 100000000000 exp will do this. Then he can train anyone....

Feels like I'm cheating  :-[

Anyway, is this thing about companions not being able to train troops of higher level intentional or is a bug that will be someday fixed?

It's a warband mechanic, so it's not likely to be changed.

I see...

In previous versions, the master of law was resposible for training troops and the training system worked pretty well. Produno, is there any chace of changing back to the way it was before?

You can still get the master of law to train troops but only if you own a castle & not a town (I believe)

Actually, I own only Qarhigar, but the master of laws do not train any troops.  :-\

In this case, I guess it's just the minister then 😭 looks like you may have to export or gather 13 companions all with trainer level 5-10 this trains up extremely quick too.

In this case, information about the relationship between all the avaible companions would be useful. The Mod wiki is completely outdated.

Wiki will be slowly but surely updated over the next two or so weeks. Quite a few of us now have editing access to the mod wiki and we will be updating (or at least I know I will) over the next two or so weeks.

I shall make companions relations my top priority.

Side Note : If you are rich enough there is an option for the companion not to leave you but it costs 7040 stags per companion that wants to leave per week. So this is not really a viable option without cheats.

Does paying them make them happy again, or just not leave that week, so youve gotta bribe them plus anyone else next week until you are bribing them all every week? I tend towards hire them all, then whittle it down by appointing people as vassal or other position, then release leftovers until stable party.

Nope, doesn't make them happy, so you would have to pay them every week, and eventually it would be every companion, 7040 each, every week.

Noted, I don't think I could make that much with all enterprises, max looting, trade, and inventory going for hardcore cash grabbing, so need to decide who I want beforehand sounds like.

Xondo dislikes many people...

maybe it should be more balanced, I mean, each companion should like one companion and dislike one companion. Also, many people dislike Broon.

To add to the list, Dick Crabb hates fleeing from the battle.
Brienne also likes Podrick, obviously, and hates Thoros.
Dacey likes Thoros and hates Crastos

Yeah, I've got them on the updated version, BUT...

Brienne does not like Pod. She just doesn't dislike him.
Pod does however like Brienne.

If you can't keep them happy they'll constantly ask to leave, not necessarily every week, it also depends on who you have with you, and how you are running your company. Also, the amount you pay for the bribes increases with their level, so if they're higher level they'l ask for more, if they're low level the fee is actually affordable mid-game onwards.

the truth is that companions won't help with this bug. I tried everything, it doesn't matter what you do, your minister won't train troops. I even tried increase their level and their training skills with cheating, which I don't like to do.  :-[

Basically if decide do not own qathigar, completing the varys questline will be an hell. Trust me, you will have a hard word to bring him 12 skilled bravos. Bravosi are hard to train and weak in battle, which means that will lose a lot of bravoosi trainee before they become 12 skilled bravos.

I hope they change it back to way it was before, I mean, when you simply had to ask your master of laws. It worked perfectly.

Hmm, then your best shot is, either to cheat train them, or level one companion with high Trainer skill (Syrio looks the best bet), and then just waste time away until they get enough experience to level all the way through. I think the trainer skill of every companion and your own character, as well as their levels, also contribute for the total amount of experience your troops gain per day.

On another note, whoever came up with the angry dialogue prompted by having both Shagga son of Dolf and Ser Creighton Longbough in the party I tip my hat to him/her. And anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about should do their best to find and recruit both just to see that.
