Seems to only be available when your starting culture is Free Folk (though it could be by chance)

Not sure cause I never tried, but shouldn't it be working after joining the free folk, too (even if your race isn't wildling)?

You can only get them if your race is wildling and only after the invasion, if I'm not mistaken

Cleared the Giants lair and didn't get a either.

Also, when clearing, companions ran into the corner and just sit there when accompanying you.
