I have also noticed this, ctrl + alt & f4 does the job nicely if you play with cheats enabled, if not it's retreat and resiege.

Doorways to the last towers near the end of the scene seems to be invisible walls instead of letting characters thou.

Unable to finish the siege unless you retreat after killing the enemies before this point, siege again and repeat until no one spawns behind the inaccessible part of the scene !
