V8.0 / Typo: "Prey on the weak"
October 02, 2022, 10:55:25 PM
In the dialogs.txt:
----
dlga_celidon_beric2:celidon_beric3
Of course. You know, it matters not whose cloak you wear: Lannister, Stark, or Baratheon. If you prey on the weak, the Brotherhood Without Banners will hunt you down.
----
dlga_celidon_beric3:celidon_beric4
Me? Pray on the weak? You've got the wrong {guy/woman}.
----

The "Pray" in the latter line should be "Prey" because the speaker is repeating the opponent's words.

Sorry if it's intended.

V8.0 / The player defeats herself/himself
October 02, 2022, 10:22:36 PM
When the player won a duel (not by her/his troop but by herself/himself), the player name is displayed as the defeated opponent. The ID in menus.txt is:
menu_viking_duel_win

----
The duel is over, and you have defeated {s1}. Bards will talk about your victory, and the fame of your feat will spread by word of mouth.
----

The "{s1}" in the line above seems to be mistakenly replaced by {playername}.

- How to reproduce it/when/why it happens:
It seems to be reproduced whenever the player won a duel.
Challenge a battle to any party. Select [Commander's Options]-[Call your enemy forward for a duel for honour] and fight to win if you become the challenger. If some other is selected as the challenger or no one willing to duel, you must find another party and repeat from the beginning in order to recreate the situation.

V8.0 / Spanish for "Should you need milk of..."
October 02, 2022, 09:12:19 PM
Perhaps the Spanish version seems to be mistakenly using a line of other old MOD's dialogs.csv. The ID of the line is:
dlga_town_dweller_talk:town_dweller_quest_meet_spy_in_enemy_town

English:
Should you need milk of the poppy, I can give you pilk of the moppy!

Spanish:
{s4}

I found this difference by chance when I was comparing them.
Sorry if it is intended.

V8.0 / F2 F7 key (memorizing) is sometimes ignored
October 02, 2022, 08:13:28 PM
Perhaps party's morale affects to that. It seems to happen when morale is low enough.

During a battle, F2 key always displays an upper-left menu F1 - F8. When morale is high enough, F7 key reports the memorizing is done with bottom-left messages. The upper-left menu remains after that and F1 - F8 are available till F1 - F6 or Esc is pushed.

When morale is low enough, following F7 key seems to be ignored (I can recognize that because any bottom-left message is not displayed). The upper-left menu remains also in this case, and F1 - F6 or Esc key are available.

In case that party morale is very low enough before starting a battle, the problem (shock got by player) is a bit smaller. However, in a borderline case, the player might be flustered because the morale goes-up-and-down "while a battle" and "each time the player retreat-and-challenge-again or leave-and-challenge-again". In such case, F7's availability would waver between yes and no.

I think the root of all problems is that the upper-left menu remains after F7 or F8 key though I don't know it is intentional. Secondly, I think that the line of F7 and F8 should be removed from the upper-left menu when they are not available.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding the condition for F7 to be ignored. I have no solid evidence but I believe the party's morale decides the threshold for F7 for now as far as I  tested and experimented.

- How to reproduce it/when/why it happens:
Low party morale (perhaps 20 or lower?), any battle (e.g. against a lord or a caravan)

Though there is no competition in the city menu, sometimes there is a choice of  "Join the competitions" (the "c" might be capital letter) when I selected "Other activities" from it. Selecting it starts a tournament actually.

- How to reproduce it/when/why it happens:
[city's menu]-[Other activities]
Indeterminate. I saw twice or 3 times within 5 hours play. Perhaps it does not depend on cities.

(Edited to add lines below on Oct 24 2022 UTC)
That was reproduced at Vaith today. but my last choice is not "Other activities" but "Visit the Inn" (or maybe "Stroll through town" or "Visit the training grounds").

The attached image is the menu appeared.

I re-loaded the last save-point near Sunspear and visit Vaith but that is not reproduced  (I tried 5 or 6 times).
The actual sequence is; Visit Vaith, "Trade with locals", "Trade with the horse merchant.", Esc key to return to the market menu, "Head back." to return to the city menu, and perhaps I selected one of "Stroll", "Inn" or "training ground" (It's a faint memory)

V8.0 / Text "received from" and "dealt from"
October 02, 2022, 01:26:11 PM
Locate to [Camp]-[Options] and mouse-hover each of "Hero damage" and "Hero damage dealt". The explanation text (defined by qstr_Set_how_much_damage_is or qstr_Set_how_much_damage_is_) appears and each of it says:
----
Set how much damage is received from all lords and companions (heroes).
----
Set how much damage is dealt from all lords and companions (heroes).
----

Both seem to mean "damage that is given from ...". If both pulldown lists in the righthand are right, the explanation for "Hero damage dealt" should have to be "dealt to" because the pulldown says like choosing bigger damage makes game difficult.

About translations:
I'm not so good at English and don't understand Spanish/French at all, but (by using machine translation) both related Spanish texts seem to be wrong (if the pulldown is right) because upper one says like "is dealt to" and latter one says like "deal" (i.e. if they are reversed then I think that's right.). The French texts seem to have the same problem with English one.

In addition, I recommend to clarify whether the "lords" and "companions" are ally, enemy, or all (I saw conversation about "turning against" in a text file, and know the possibility of that). Otherwise I think these two explanation texts for the difficulty setting would be meaningless.

V8.0 / Ambushing and Sneaking settings?
October 02, 2022, 11:33:42 AM
The texts in [Q key]-[Game Concepts]-[Ambushing] and -[Sneaking], i.e. ip_ambush and ip_sneaking, says as below but I cannot find any related buttons or setting pages in the "Camp" menu (not only it but also in any menu I know).
----
The ambushing skill allows you to set up ambushes.^ From the camp game menu, choose to set up an ambush. You will be told the current nature of your ambush, and if you are attacked, you will have the choice to launch the ambush.^ Ambushes can have devastating positive or negative effects.
----
The sneaking skill allows you to sneak. From the camp game menu, choose to sneak. Sneaking will reduce your speed.^^However, if you are the attacker, you might have, according to you sneaking check, some combat bonus (but not as great as you would have for an ambush).
----

I did a brief search for the words like "sneak" or "sneaking" from all text files of the MOD, but the found texts are only about "sneaking to a city" AFAIK. I don't know whether the "ambushing and sneaking in the fields" features are obsolete or are to be implemented. Also don't know whether the setting page appears only under some specific conditions. But currently there seems to be an inconsistency between the Concept text and the actual behavior unless any announce is done.

Sorry if I'm overlooking the implemented one.
Thanks

Thank you Bjorn Ironside. I posted the first report.

Some guys don't fight till receive an attack from others.

- How to reproduce it/when/why it happens:
This seems to be easily recreated. Whenever and wherever I fought a melee in an arena to the end, I see at least 4 or 5 "standing" men. (I'm testing as a non-lord character now)

- Computer specs:
Laptop, Win8.1 64bit, Core i7-4600M 2.9 GHz, 8 GB memory, GeForce GT 730M

- Game version (and steam or downloaded):
AWoIaF v8.1, Downloaded (I have not seen this with v7.11.)

- Additional information (Screenshots etc):
In the first example, only the guy "A" is challenging me. The "B" is only standing and facing to "A". The "C" came later but the same, he does only stand and facing to "B". The "B" (or "C") starts his fights after I knocked down "A" or he received any attack from some other guys. (In many cases, "C" challenges to one of "A", "B", or me. )

In the second example, the "D" and "E" face each other without doing their fight till someone attacks one of them.

V8.0 / 8.1 bug reports here?
September 30, 2022, 02:34:04 PM
I would like to report bugs and doubtful things of v8.1, but there seems to be too few bug-reporting entries posted here. Is this the right place to report v8.1 bugs? (Please also let me know if I should test newer versions than 8.1.)
