When you play as wildling do you tend to recruit from non-faction parties such as northern clansmen or are you more pragmatical, less role player? The funny thing about some of these troops is, in terms of proficiency the northern clansmen troops really justify their high wage, same cannot be said for robber or exiled knights by comparison to regular faction troops, but they all come with shitty equipment. I mean even though it counts as a polearm, the hardened northern clansman, with all his skill, won't be much of a threat vs heavy cavalry of any type.
I only recruit my culture & mercenaries/non-faction. So veteran Freeriders, etc.

And also, its not failing. We cant get the bonus for catching both, only one of them. Catching 1 gets you a small reward, catching both got you more, extra money and a book, its even listed in the wiki. We can only catch 1 of 2. It doesnt fail the quest, it prevents completing it properly, gives us a "well I guess you tried your best" result, then moves on to next mission.
Could you at some point make a throwaway character and go run the quest to show screens you are able to capture them both? How recently have you checked it?
Last time I checked was yesterday, on a new playthrough, I'll run it again in like 30 minutes and get some screenshots.

I have that same problem but when entering Taverns, Walking in cities, entering battles etc... it just happens randomly... it happened with the steam version too(now im using ModDB)

I can safely say my game has never crashed, no matter how much I tweak it. Are you using the modDB version?

I'm running 2.2 and i've seen 1-2 wights in Free Folk parties still. (Though it is a considerably smaller amount)
Just wait for day 600 and they should invade. (Assuming you have the option on in camp - options menu)

Thought I would drop a quick poll here, please be sure to comment below if you want to go into more detail!
Personally I think they're a great asset if hired around day 300 when I'm usually asserted into a decent portion of westeros, I like using them more as patrols (via master of law) as the Veteran Freeriders can be quite strong versus bandits, free folk & anything else without cavalry! They're a great defensive asset for sure. I've never tried to use them offensively as a whole group.. Where are the other companies?
The other two roam around Essos, at start of game they're near Myr & Volantis.

My hold tends to be pretty accurate... Maybe try another mod/native and see if you have same issue? If you do try re-installing mod, if it still persists Produno will have to look into it.
