What's sad about the GoT TV show was that by mid-season 4 and on it just became such a boring disappointment.
Forget about the botched Dorne and Stannis plot in Season 5, Season 6 and 7 was just such lost potential for a revival of the series. I figured since that the writers can do whatever they wanted, just as long as they stayed true to the ending (which GRRM told them, apparantly) then there was so much that they could've done.
But it was just terrible. Awful writing, and killing characters because DnD had no idea what to do with them.
I enjoy seasons 5-7 more than season 3 and 2. Were they perfect? No. Were seasons 3 and 2? No. Things change when the author decides to stop writing the books and you have to tell a story through the medium of television every year, in which case books 4 and 5 would make for boring television.
Dorne sucked, sure. But they ruined Stannis? The guy is just different in the tv show than in the books, so it's not like they ruined him within their own tv universe.
Yeah, season 7 episode 6 had problems. But is it a worse episode than the Night Lands from season 2, or Lord Snow in season 1? Definitely not, ser.
