Help & Support / Re: No More Valyrian swords
August 19, 2017, 09:35:31 PM
This shouldn't be a surprise. The Weaponsmith says he only has enough Valyrian steel to make two small swords or one big sword.

You chose the big one.

If you still want the small ones use Cheatmenu.

You Win or You Die.

I figured out this quest if anyone is still interested. It's actually quite easy and lucrative.

South, across the river from King's Landing is the Stormlands. In that area of deep woods and hilly terrain are the occasional packs of Wild Boar. Hunt them and kill them. Eventually you may kill a really big boar. When you do you will get a message that states (paraphrasing), "You just killed the Boar that killed Robert Baratheon".

But there is not instructions on what to do with that information.

It took me awhile and a bit of frustration but one time I was in King's Landing and I noticed a new button under "Other Activities". It said, something like "Take Boar's Head to Small Council".

So, I clicked on that and got some renown and some cash and the quest was done.

Easy Peasy.

Help & Support / Re: Wildfire
August 19, 2017, 09:29:43 PM
None that I know of unless you activate cheatmenu.

Wildfire is a bit underpowered. The PC can use it to some effect, but companions can't hit the side of a barn with the stuff. It's fucking ridiculous really. Huge Area Effect, high Horse Archery, and they literally throw it 50 feet from the target.

Also, it would be cool if I could compel them to throw it at the start of a battle while troops are massed rather than at the end when there are only a handful of enemies left.

Sigh.

Better off giving them a bow.

It can take several weeks for companions to return. I think it will depend on how close you are to the area they are going to and maybe even if they have a horse or not. (can't actually confirm this but it's my suspicion).

The only companion who has ever disappeared has been Kureklet. If I send him to spy he never comes back.

As for RTR there are other ways to get it.

1. Give a speech in the towns you visit. You don't need entertainment skill to do this. Most of the time you get nothing. Sometimes you get some renown. Every once in a while you get 1 right to rule.

2. I've heard marriage gives RTR, but I don't think that actually works in AWOIAF. At least I don't see a change when I get married. Not even to a king's daughter!

3. If you are part of a kingdom and the kingdom makes peace I think you get RTR.

4. If you recruit a lord either to your own faction or to your lord's faction then you get RTR. (actually, I can't confirm that you get it for recruiting to a lord's faction. I haven't succeeded in doing that in AWOIAF. It's my belief though. It does definitely give RTR if you are a king yourself).

5. If you are a king and have a kingdom you can get RTR by making a treaty, signing a non-aggression pacts, alliance, and maybe even by successfully threatening a neighbor. I haven't tried threatening anyone but it's one of the diplomacy options and the rest give RTR.

6. Every companion can give RTR if you send them out.

Help & Support / Re: how to play in 1.3?
August 19, 2017, 09:20:58 PM
I did the same thing, however, I think it just says 1.2.

Start the game. At the startup menu there is a dropdown box that has the modules and the AWOIAF module says, 1.2. However, it's really 1.3.

That is, if you downloaded and installed the 1.3 patch then it's 1.3.

Start the game and when you get to the title screen see if it's still 1.2. It should finally say 1.3.

Let us know.

I experienced the same thing. I don't think he is the forgiving type.

Maybe in 2.0?

Until then, save often when doing his quests.

Help & Support / Re: Trainer skill
August 19, 2017, 09:15:34 PM
Training skill works, but there are things which lessen its effectiveness.

You need to be higher in level than the troops you are training.

If you have 30 farmers in your group then more of them will be ready to upgrade after midnight than if you only have two in your group. They pool experience and 30 farmers will get enough experience for a handful to upgrade. If you are only level 6 then you probably don't have a lot of points in training skill and it's not giving a lot of experience for those few higher levels that you have.

To be frank, if I were you I'd not worry about training skill until you are level 20 or greater. Here's why:

1. You don't have the money to pay for upgrades. You are still equipping yourself and your companions so trying to build an army will make you go broke.

2. You can recruit more troops faster from captured prisoners.

3. You will need to get more levels before you can even afford to put points in a party skill like that, but also, the points you put in won't be effective at low levels.

You'll be better off babying peasants until they level on their own than trying to level them with training skill. But even then you're still better off recruiting from captured prisoners.

Why train up peasants when you can have some Robber Knights? Yes, their wages are ridiculous but you can always disband them before payday and then recruit some more. Just sayin'.

Help & Support / Re: Losing morale (1.3)
August 19, 2017, 12:38:40 PM
I think they talk about this in another thread.

Keep a variety of food, add some entertainment to your skills, and when you sleep you have to sleep in a town. No morale boost when camping out in the world for some reason.

If you want to equip your companions with Valyrian steel you'll have to cheat.

His name is Cochobon or something like that.

He gets permanently disabled when cheats are activated though.

j/k. I don't think he's implemented in the game just yet. There are a lot of things they are still working on. Maybe in version 2?

v1.0 / Bugs, downloaded game
August 05, 2017, 02:17:02 AM
1. If I capture a ship or two, at some point my other ships change the material they are made from. I usually buy only Oak Cogs and suddenly one or two become Pine or Ash and are heavily damaged as well. Very frustrating. I've also had it happen when I bought a ship in a town and went to get my other ships and then merged them at that town. Suddenly I've got damaged pine cogs.

2. I'm still getting a bug where caravans keep going in and out of a town. Right now it's Dragonstone and Gulltown. Back and forth. Back and forth.

3. Maybe not a bug but definitely annoying. In ship battles my ship is often slower than the second and third ship in my party. That's inconvenient as the first ship has the best troops in it and I'd rather archers not engage with the enemy. Commands to hold ground or fall back don't seem to do anything.  Maybe I don't know how to use them?

4. I've seen it reported that recruiters have pathfinding errors. Same here. Sometimes they are at sea and they run into the beach but don't land or maneuver around.

5. I don't know if it's a bug, but some of the armors are not consistent in their weights, damage resist, and whether they are classified as medium, or heavy. For instance, the Lamellar that the Sea Raiders wear weighs 12 pounds (iirc) but it is classed as a Heavy Armor.  That makes me think the classification is based on the damage resist. But other armors like the Brigandine that Exile Knights wear has about the same damage resist and weighs more but is a Medium Armor.  Anyway, it's not intuitive.

6. When defending Storms End, the initial spawn of defenders is placed out in the water. They are often mobbed before they can get back to the castle which means the defenders aren't in place and the castle can be overrun quickly. I'm a heroic dude and I held them off on some stairs, but other players aren't as awesome as me.

7.I've never found the guild master at Valon Therys (iirc). It's the city to the north west of Volantis. I just use cheats now when finding guild masters. It saves me hours of game time.

8. I attack lords and they bring a half dozen cogs or more to the battle but I almost never capture one. It's very frustrating since there they all are sitting there tide up to all my boats at the end of every battle. How can I not capture them? It would make being a pirate a lot more lucrative (and fun).

9.Spies get caught in my own castles and then I get even more negative relation with the castle.

Thanks for you hard work.

v1.0 / Re: Cant siege Dragonstone

You can land on the island. Right click your ship near land and select 'find landing port'.

I'll try this. I have been left clicking on the ship and that makes a random point show up as well, but not on Dragonstone.

Will the right click work at Braavos as well?

v1.0 / Re: [v1.3]diplomatic status frozen
August 05, 2017, 01:50:57 AM
I've experienced this as well. I've also noticed that when Westerlands makes peace with someone they stay at peace.

Occasionally, there is a border incident that changes whether a faction is still in a truce. That has happened to me with Dragonstone and Westerlands. They can attack me if they want but I still can't attack them.

v1.0 / 1.3, Kurleket disappears and other things
July 27, 2017, 10:46:53 PM
I sent Kurleket on an embassy mission to the Lannisters and he hasn't returned. I looked in the companion list and he's not on there. This happened in another game as well.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Spies get found out even when they are in my own castle. The castle has a negative relation that I'd like to improve but my spies are found and the relation goes down.
