[2.1] Crash on Start Attempt

Hey there

Since 2.0 M&B crashes everytime I try to start a new game or load one. The game loads fine until there, but I can't start to play.

I'm using v1.172 of M&B

AthlonX4 @3GHz
16GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 960 (4GB)

I followed your hints on the "why does my game crash" topic with no success.

At which point does it crash?

Are you trying to load an old save?

Any error messages?

It crashes right when I click "Start New Game" or "Load Game".

Right after the CTD the windows error comes up "M&B is not working anymore"


Could this have to do with DX drivers or some redist stuff? My GF has nearly the same machine and has no problems playing the mod.

Just a tip if not already done, direct yourself to - Documents - Mount & Blade Warband Saves - A World Of Ice And Fire

Try and delete all the save games here sg.00 sg.01 etc. and then try and start a new game. I had a similar issue that was related to a save file for some reason?

Your saves prior to 2.0 and 2.1 won't work with the new patch/version so you aren't losing anything by giving this a go.

Have you tried re-downloading 2.1 and re-installing? Crazy question I know xD

TLDR; Turn off textures on demand, try again.

Yes, I redownloaded and reinstalled it, via Steam.

Tried the ModDB donwload first, but that didn't work either, same error.

Looks like you just have to steal your g/f's computer, or just swap them, maybe she won't notice.


Though, honestly, it could be a number of things. Have you tried deleting your rgl.log in the users/documents (I think)

After using my head, I found the problem


I'm having a soundcard issue, that prevented the game from starting. I disabled the sound in the launcher, now it works.

I'm just glad I don't have to steal my g/f's pc. That would have lead to a severe level of unpleasantness.

Super! I'm happy its working for you, if possible could you post the steps that you took on here so that I can share it with other people? If not i'll work it out for myself and post it up next time I see the issue!
