Thanks for the replies. Well I played a bit longer and most of them came back (tho I waited quite long), only Brienne didn't make it back. But still my rtr is pretty low.
Anyway marriage didn't work for me as well. I also managed to recruit one lord (while being The Reach vassal) but it didn't give me any rtr so maybe it works when you have your own kingdom.
I'll try other suggestions, thanks a lot! :)

It can take several weeks for companions to return. I think it will depend on how close you are to the area they are going to and maybe even if they have a horse or not. (can't actually confirm this but it's my suspicion).

The only companion who has ever disappeared has been Kureklet. If I send him to spy he never comes back.

As for RTR there are other ways to get it.

1. Give a speech in the towns you visit. You don't need entertainment skill to do this. Most of the time you get nothing. Sometimes you get some renown. Every once in a while you get 1 right to rule.

2. I've heard marriage gives RTR, but I don't think that actually works in AWOIAF. At least I don't see a change when I get married. Not even to a king's daughter!

3. If you are part of a kingdom and the kingdom makes peace I think you get RTR.

4. If you recruit a lord either to your own faction or to your lord's faction then you get RTR. (actually, I can't confirm that you get it for recruiting to a lord's faction. I haven't succeeded in doing that in AWOIAF. It's my belief though. It does definitely give RTR if you are a king yourself).

5. If you are a king and have a kingdom you can get RTR by making a treaty, signing a non-aggression pacts, alliance, and maybe even by successfully threatening a neighbor. I haven't tried threatening anyone but it's one of the diplomacy options and the rest give RTR.

6. Every companion can give RTR if you send them out.

How long did you wait for them to return? I never had this issue.

Hello! I'm kinda new to this so I apologize in advance. I'm trying to get rtr, I recruited two companions and told them I want to be king blabla and sent them out, but they never returned.. is it possible they got lost or sth? And also, I'm trying to find new companions but every Inn I visit is empty..
Is there any other way I can get rtr besides spreading word and getting married? I'm kinda stuck now.  :'(
