Apologies if this is a terribly noobish question, and if it has more to do with Brytenwalda than this mod, but...

Why do large armies seem unwilling to fight all the way to victory? Trying out the mod, I came upon Edmure Tully's army cornering Joffrey's so I joined in with my small band. The Westerlands troops were better, but Tully's army was half again as large (something like 350 to 230) and I managed to down Clegane early, so the overall kill ratio was in the trouts' favour. However, once about 50 troops were killed, no more reinforcements would come and of course I ended up overwhelmed. What's the mechanic behind that, so I can plan around it?
