While we're at it, does Jon ever become King in da North?

I've heard there is a Red Wedding but I haven't gotten that far in my current Static play through.

In Red Wedding u can save Rob and stop Bolton-Frey plans, but Jon Snow will stay at the Wall in any scenario.

That is what I miss from VC in this mode... In Viking Conquest there is a dialog option to take your prisoner's equipment(lords only), and this mode is based on VC as I remember correctly.

No he does not, the red wedding quest line is only to either keep robb as king or make bolton the warden of the north.

Good point Egg, haven't tested whether you can send lords of the Nights Watch to the Wall. What an oversight by me!

Will test it now, edit this post with result later.

Edit: Only managed to capture one of the several lords I "defeated" in battle, and of course I could not send him to the wall. Problem is that it was a lord I had already sent to the Wall before, so I can't be 100% certain on which part of the interaction prevents it, but it is safe to assume that you indeed cannot send people already at the Wall to the Wall. Silly of me.

To add to this: Killing a lord will give drastic punishments with every faction and lord in the game, so it is not recommended as you will find yourself at war with the entire map. The easier way of doing it is by having King's Landing first, which allows you the option of sending them to the Wall instead (same process, but a new dialogue option). This will make them vassals of the Nights Watch, and only gives negative relations with lords from their original faction, and it still gives you their items.

It is more difficult . When u finish that quest (actually already before that quest ) Jon Snow become a lord commander of Night Watch. That mean you can fight against him in battle and if u are lucky enough you can cough him and make him your prison. You can speak with him as prison and there will be high crime dialogue ,and you can kill him there . That will give all his epiqupment to you . You can do like this with every lord or enemy companion character . But it's not worth it ,because you will lose huge amount of relation with every faction .
And ofc everyone love Jon .

Do you mean kill him or knock him out?

What do you mean by the "main quest"? I've gotten as far as Crastor's Keep quest but no option to kill Jon Snow.

I'm just curious. I don't really need Longclaw and if I have to kill JS then it's definitely not worth it. He's had it hard enough without me stabbing him in the back.

if you want longclaw you should now be able to get it. Jon will become lord commander if you do the main quest and when he becomes lord commander you'll have the option to kill him and get longclaw.

You can use save editor, find Longclaw's item ID and edit one of your inventory slots to have it and you're done.
If you can't sort yourself out I'll put a detailed instruction if you need it.

face him in battle, with your own guys, find him in the field, take him down, and take his sword. it should be in the loot menu after

Does it matter if I'm a king or just a mercenary or in someone's army? What if I'm in the Lord Commander's Army and I wack him from behind and take his weapon? (that actually works in ACOK). What if I just pick a fight one day and then pay a fine to the NW the next day?

And by "take his sword" do you mean find the sword on the ground and pick it up and then it will appear in inventory?
