- December 02, 2015, 06:13:39 AMHello!
Came across this post, and it seems to be the same problem I've encountered in an otherwise amazingly exciting mod
I enlist with Robb, and for the most part things are fine, untill eventually I am "killed", my health never recovers, and on top of that, my camera/self(?) is moved to Winterfell - while Robbs army still rumages around without me(?)
Oddly, I can see Robbs army, if I force the camera over him (although it keeps "bouncing" back to Winterfell), even if he is miles away
I hope this is of any help at all, since enlisting was a highly enjoyable feature, that unfortunately turned very weird with this bug.
I just finished downloading the 8th Beta, but I have yet to try it out, so what I'm reporting is from the 7th, with the hotfixes.
Otherwise, impressive work, really!

- November 20, 2015, 11:06:16 AMB.t.w after 127 days no one declared a war on anyone and not a single truce was made, faction relations still the same. Is this intentional?

So the bug Gdwitt was on about is dieing companions.
I think the player character disappearing bug is due to imprisonment. The player looses to a lord, he imprisons him in his castle, then the player for some reason disappears. I will look into this more closely when I have the time. In the mean time could anyone check this and confirm this is the only time? If you get killed and loose your character please post your rgl.log here.
Cheers.
Oh and I had cheats on, or has this happened without a playthrough with no cheats on anyone???
2 points.
First: it happened to me against bandits.
Second: it happens even when I win the battle, so I don't really understand how it relates to imprisonment.
Anyway, at least we know the source. I will carry on playing and will post the rgl log as soon as it happens to me again.
P.s. I never have cheats on, but it could be funny if turning your cheats on is a workaround

- November 19, 2015, 06:49:12 AMSo according to Gdwitt on the TW forums (hes been making a submod of Brytenwalda for some time) players have frequently reported this same bug to him. So it appears to be a Brytenwalda bug and not something ive done.
Apparently its mostly or always when fighting lords? Can anyone confirm this?

- November 18, 2015, 10:26:10 PMWell, ive made some fixes/changes to custom commander. Ive tried playing for around an hour testing stuff, changing companions etc etc dieing lots and lots but I can seem to get my character or any of my companions dead. They always only get knocked out. They will then sometimes leave the party if I'm captured, then turn up in a random tavern. All this is how its meant to work....
Unless what ive changed has fixed it, but I'm not overly convinced. Ive no idea what you guys are doing different to me. Also tf_hero, which the companions are labelled with should be hard coded so they cant die. That's the whole point of that flag and it cant be changed.... That's why killing Lords has to be done via a special dialogue and not on the battlefield as they also have the flag tf_hero..
I do remember a mod where the player was able to have permanent death , I must dig it out and see what they done to achieve that, see if that gives me some clues.
btw, this was all done with 0 surgery skill.

- November 18, 2015, 07:55:49 AMNo, it happens in normal battles too. It happened about 30 times in the space of 3 days to me. From what I've seen, it looks like the player, just like any other npc character, counts as a regular soldier, and the chances of the character being killed depend on the party surgery skill and the weapon he was dtruck down by. I'll give you an example: I've recruited some lanniste knight(I think it was ser Forely Fester or something alike) which was my prisoner, and he had 8 surgery.
I am a lord of the Riverlanders, so I'm fighting Lannisters. frequently, there were battles where all my casualties were killed and not one if them was minor wounded. The moment I've recruited the npc knight with the 8 surgery skill, If I had casualties, those were mostly minor wounded, including me. Moreover, in some battle later, this knight got killed. And guess what! Every struck down soldier in the same battle got killed, including me. I would like you to know that I got killed and had to load a previous save even in battles where not everybody got killed, it was quite random, so I guess the "everybody's dead" battle is a seperate bug that you need to fix, I mean, sometimes there would be 80 dead people with not a single wounded person. Yes btw companions die permanently if killed and don't respawn. Also, Matt Ward, I die from all units. It seems to be something general, unrelated to specific conditions, as it happens randomly in all kinds of situations.

I think that most if not every time it happened to me it was a normal battle; as i hinted, it might have something to do with cavalry units since 1 or two times happened after i had been "killed" by a mounted unit.
After re-reading the above it does seem to only happen when die-ing in sieges?
So far it has not happened again after the last "death" i reported a while ago, will updated if it does.

- November 17, 2015, 09:33:27 PMAfter scouring the mod files for the past 3 hours tonight (its now time for bed, early start!!) I did find two instances in sieges where their was a bug related to freelancer. I have no idea however if this would cause the player death bug.
If you could do more tests that would be great!

- November 17, 2015, 09:01:06 PMSo I have had the same problem. In my case I imported an existing character so I had an easy start. I conquered Kingslanding at day 130 or so and after I died trying to defend it I was no longer a member of my own party. I don't know if you need anymore information from me? any specifics?
I'll start some other games and ill die on purpose maybe i can find something.

Does it happen every time you use freelancer? Whenever you enlist into someones army since the dev builds?
Can you try a play though without using that feature and see what happens?
I know theres bugs within freelancer and its something I need to get round to doing, but I never use that feature, probably why ive never encountered the bug.
Negative. I actually rarely enlist too, and most of the time it happened when i was either a merc or a Lord.

- November 06, 2015, 09:27:39 PMQuote from: Produno on November 06, 2015, 09:03:51 PMHowever, the first "stuck" bug happened several times without switching commanders. Glad to hear that bug has been fixed though
Hmm strange.
The first bug was due to not switching back to the player correctly when choosing another commander. This has since been fixed in Beta 8 for definite. So the second bug is different.

QuoteI did. I just loaded old modules (Beta 7 Final Hotfix #2, 17/10 dev build, another that i think is 28/10 and the latest) to load games where i had that bug. And yes, i did start new games with each dev build; i think only the one that was just a small update was compatible with past saves after all.. And while i did keep my "would-be King of Essos" save, i also started at least another new one.
You say you loaded a save. You did start a new game after downloading any dev build? A new game must be started between each version.
Anyway, update! I just encountered the bug again with yet another game i started today: Sonia Pyke, disgraced ironborn woman choosing to reject her past and joining Stannis' army. I was enlisted in his army as a Stormlands Recruit, using the standard recruit armor plus an arming sword i bought, javelins, boots and helmet i got starting with the retainer vocation. I was fighting Leo Ashford's army with 3 of Stannis' vassals (1000+ vs 104, lol); unfortunately, in a bold advance i got in the way of a cavalry rush i hoped would hit the main army instead; i tried to use my shield but one of their knights/horsemen hit me with a sword and as soon as i saw "Sonia Pyke was killed.." i Alt-F4ed.
edit: i forgot to say, we were sieging Tumbleton when Lord Ashford attacked us, so it was a standard battle.
