AFAIK it only affects you, because I've never received a message about companions.

You can go to any town and a maester will be in the great hall

I am reading that if I am wounded in battle and it isn't healed before receiving another that I get a permanent stat decrease. Does this also effect my companions? Troops? If so, how can I see their wounds?

Also, I have yet to run into a maester. Where do I look?
