Lord Varys' questline

So...
I decided to start Lord Varys' questline but managed to fail the capture spy quest when I initiated dialogue with him straight after starting it and chose the About the task you gave me or whatever which immediately failed me. I am wondering how many days it will be until i am allowed to continue and get another quest from him as it has been around 26 and he still wont talk to me.

If you fail the Questline it'll not be triggered again. Better to start new game.
